GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Landon Wierenga of the Augustana Vikings men's track and field team has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third Team Academic All-American, the organization announced Tuesday. He is the 190th all-time selection for Augustana and the 46th selection for the men's track and field program.
Wierenga, a junior from Eureka, Ill., is studying Business Administration at Augustana and currently owns a 4.00 GPA. This season, he climbed as high as No. 2 in the nation in the hammer throw after recording a personal-best mark of 62.12 meters. He also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in both the discus and hammer throw.
His standout season included a third-place finish in the discus at the CCIW Outdoor Championships before collecting Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with an 11th-place finish in the discus. Wierenga also earned his first CSC Academic All-District selection this year.
Wierenga is the first Academic All-American from the Augustana men's track and field program since Brandon Wilkerson in 2019.
