ROCK ISLAND – The Augustana Vikings track and field teams swept both team titles at the 81st Viking Olympics, with the men scoring 163.5 points to win the 11-team field, while the women delivered a dominant 200-point performance to take first out of 10 teams.

Augustana's men leaned on sprint dominance and a massive showing in the throws to separate themselves from the field. Tyreke Fortney led the way with a standout double, winning both the 100 meters (10.66) and 200 meters (21.76). Fortney also ran on the winning 4x100 relay "B" team (41.97) alongside Bryce Jackson, Ryan Schmidgall, and Luke SmithIn the hurdles, AJ Banks turned in a dominant performance, winning both the 110-meter hurdles (14.64) and 400-meter hurdles (55.34). Teammates Conner Calhoun (3rd, 56.11) and Brayden Veil (3rd, 15.19) added scoring finishes, while Calhoun also placed fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.92).

In the field events, Augustana stacked points across multiple evnets. Luke Smith finished second in the long jump (6.72m), with Caden Eller placing fourth (6.60m). In the hammer throw, the Vikings placed four athletes in the top five, led by Landon Wierenga in second (59.66m). Magnus Wells (4th, 51.31m), Evan Santilli (5th, 48.29m), and Micah Bischoff (6th, 47.60m) added high finishes to the scoreboard. Wierenga also placed third in the discus (48.10m) to contribute additional points. On the track, Daniel Prochaska added a third-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:09.26), while the Vikings' 4x400 relay A team placed second in 3:28.29.

On the women's side, the Vikings delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, pulling away early and never looking back on the way to a 200-point team win. In the sprints, Bridget Hecker led the way with a win in the 200 meters (25.90) and added a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters (12.65). The Vikings saw strong performances across the hurdles, as Khaliah Knox placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.04), while Addison Wessel added a fourth-place finish (18.82). In the 400 hurdles, Norah Wright placed second (1:11.16), followed by Luniah Gilford in third (1:14.49). In the distance events, Wright also placed third in the 1500 meters (4:57.18), while Elizabeth Hayes finished third in the 800 meters (2:38.52).

Augustana's field events powered much of the team scoring, with the throws leading the way. Rhiannon Marshall claimed the event title in the high jump (1.53m), while Leila Sifford added a second-place finish in the long jump (5.12m). Charlotte Frere won the discus (50.12m), with Laina Nelson adding a fourth-place finish (40.25m). Nelson also placed second in the javelin (40.31m), while Amelia Miller finished third (34.43m). In the hammer throw, Nelson (2nd, 45.28m) and Ella Colvin (3rd, 45.04m) added another strong scoring effort. Augustana capped the day with a win in the 4x400 relay (4:08.06), as Gilford, Marie Weber, Cora Deemer, and Hecker combined for the victory.

Augustana returns to action at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 10-11, looking to build off a commanding performance on their home track.
