NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Jorge Marcelo of the Augustana Vikings men's tennis team has been named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. 

Marcelo earns this honor after his performance this past week, posting a 4-0 record in doubles action and 3-1 in singles. In doubles action, Marcelo partnered with Aingeru Garcia and secured 6-4 wins over Millikin and Illinois Wesleyan. The duo continued with a 6-1 victory against Carroll before closing out the week with another 6-4 win over Loras.

In singles, the freshman competed at both the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Playing at No. 3, Marcelo recorded victories over Millikin (6-4, 6-3) and Illinois Wesleyan (6-1, 6-1). He later moved up to the No. 2 spot, where he delivered a 6-1, 6-1 performance win against Loras.
