ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team defeated the Carroll Pioneers on Saturday by a score of 5-2.

The Vikings set the tone early, taking control in doubles with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Aingeru Garcia and Jorge Marcelo led the charge with a commanding 6–1 victory in the top spot, while Facundo Feldman and Arturo Asensio Moreno followed with a 6–2 decision.

Carroll answered with wins in the first two singles matches, but Augie quickly regained momentum. The Vikings claimed the final four singles contests to seal the team victory. Santiago Lazo delivered a 6–1, 6–4 win, and Feldman won 6–0, 6–2. Garcia added a 6–1, 6–3 result before Grant Meyers put the finishing touches on the match with a 6–0, 6–4 performance.

With the win, Augie improves to 9-9 on the season and 5-2 in CCIW play. The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow for a non-conference battle against Loras.
