Platteville, WI – The Augustana Vikings track and field teams turned in several strong performances Friday at the Platteville Final Qualifier, with multiple event victories and top-five finishes.

Augustana claimed two event wins on the women's side. Khaliah Knox earned a victory in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.00 meters (16-4.75) to take first place. Knox also added a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 8.17 seconds.

Liz Hayes secured another Viking victory in the triple jump, recording a winning mark of 11.02 meters (36-1.75).

In the throws, Laina Nelson delivered a strong performance in the weight throw, finishing third with a toss of 16.38 meters (53-9.00).

On the mens side, one athlete topped the charts. Gerard Cabrera Espinach led the way with a victory in the long jump, recording a mark of 6.09 meters (19-11.75). Cabrera Espinach also added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.58 meters (41-3.25).

In the 200-meter dash, Elijah Lara placed fifth, posting a time of 23.73 seconds.

Conner Calhoun rounded out the Vikings' top-five track finishes with a fifth-place effort in the 800 meters, clocking 2:08.70.

In the throws, Landon Wierenga recorded a fourth-place finish in the weight throw, posting a mark of 17.71 meters (58-1.00).

Both teams return to competition on Saturday, March 7, when the Vikings travel to the Wartburg Qualifier.
