AURORA, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's bowling team clinched a spot in the CCIW Championships after finishing the regular season with a 7-5 record at the second CCIW Tournament this past weekend.
On day one, the Vikings collected a 1-3 record in Baker format to tie for third. Augie fell to Aurora, Marian, and Carroll in the opening three games before collecting an 828-442 victory against Illinois Wesleyan to close out opening day.
Cassie Kontos led the team in match one with a score of 178, while Ana Zaglis rolled 175 in game two.
Kathryn Edwards knocked down 202 in back-to-back games to lead the team against Carroll and Illinois Wesleyan.
In traditional play on day two, Augie earned a 2-0 record with wins over Carthage and Elmhurst to punch a ticket to the CCIW Finals. The Vikings defeated Carthage by six pins in the opening round of traditional play with a final score of 936-930.
Anna Ricci led the team with a game high of 232, and
Molly Singleton followed with 204 pins. The team followed with a bye before earning an 880-854 victory over Elmhurst to seal a perfect record on day two and grab a spot in post season. Edwards led the team with a score of 194, while
Samantha Olson followed at 191.
The Vikings will now advance to post season, starting with the USBC Individual Sectional on March 15 in Addison, Ill.
