BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings wrapped up competition at the 2026 CCIW Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, highlighted by a conference title from
Tyreke Fortney and multiple podium finishes across both the men's and women's squads.
Fortney delivered the championship moment of the weekend, winning the men's 60m in 6.80 to claim the conference crown and score 10 team points. He added a fourth-place finish in the 200m (22.39) later in the day, contributing five more points to the Viking total.
In the hurdles, AJ Banks placed third in the 60m hurdles final in 8.34, while Brayden Veil followed in fifth in 8.49. The duo combined for 10 team points in the event.
The Viking sprinters added key scoring performances throughout the afternoon. Mohamed Benbrahim placed eighth in the 400m (51.00), while the men's 4x400m relay team of Benbrahim, Banks, Daniel Prochaska, and Bryce Jackson closed the meet with a sixth-place finish in 3:27.88.
Augustana's distance crew continued to stack points on the track. Milo McLeer earned sixth in the 3000m with a personal-best 8:53.20, while Christian Haywood and Ben Gricius both recorded personal bests in the same event. Haywood, Gricius, Lukas Nykaza, Jaden Gocken, and Isaac Schuda also competed in the 5000m, with Haywood leading the group.
In the field events, Luke Smith placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.83m to score six points. Magnus Wells turned in a strong championship weekend in the throws, placing second in the weight throw (17.84m) and fourth in the shot put (15.19m). Landon Wierenga added a third-place finish in the weight throw, while Evan Santilli and Julian Molitor also scored in the event.
On the women's side, Jordyn Van Santen led the sprinters with a third-place finish in the 400m in 58.31. Bridget Hecker added fifth in the 400m (58.55) and later scored in the 200m, while the 4x400m relay team of Van Santen, Hecker, Marie Weber, and Cora Deemer placed third in 4:01.75.
The Viking distance runners continued their strong championship showing. Ryan Jednachowski placed fifth in the 3000m (10:44.24) after finishing third in the 5000m on Friday. Renee Jednachowski added an 11th-place finish in the 3000m after earning points in the 5000m, while Keira Nelson recorded a personal best in the 3000m as well.
Marie Weber placed sixth in the 800m (2:22.44), and Norah Wright added a ninth-place finish in the mile.
In the field events, Charlotte Frere placed third in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw. Laina Nelson finished second in the weight throw to score eight team points, while Amelia Miller added a fifth-place finish. In the pole vault, Presley Winters and Grace Gillespie tied for fourth, with Cora Heller and Athena Ghiotto also scoring. Leila Sifford added points in the triple jump, placing sixth with a personal-best mark of 11.28m.
Khaliah Knox highlighted the women's multis, winning the 800m segment of the pentathlon in 2:40.19 as part of her overall competition.
As a team, the Viking women finished fourth with 78.33 points, while the men placed fourth with 72.33 points.
Both teams are back on the road next weekend, competing at the Platteville Final Qualifer on Friday, March 6 and then again at the Wartburg Qualifer on March 7.
