PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming teams conquered six events on day two of the CCIW Championships on Thursday.
For the women,
Kendle Mihm kicked off the finals portion of the day with a victory in the 50 free, clocking 24.16 after prelims of 24.42.
Sophia Warren clocked in fourth with a time of 24.68. In the 500 free,
Giselle Koonce finished fifth with a time of 5:20.79, and
Savannah Shapley followed in sixth at 5:22.87.
Mara Walker grabbed a time of 2:16.00 to finish sixth in the 200 individual medley.
In the 200 free relay, Warren,
Charlotte Vogen,
Mya Pheneger, and Mihm touched second with a time of 1:36.91. Later in the 400 medley relay,
Natalie Salazar,
Ava Kauffeld, Vogen, and Mihm finished with a time of 4:02.07 to place second.
On the men's side,
Oskar Bannister claimed the 50 free with a time of 20.84, while
Lucas Rettig followed .03 seconds behind in second at 20.87.
Bjorn Sievert finished fourth with a time of 21.15, and
Trentin Lechleitner clocked in a time of 21.59. In the 500 free,
Mark Addison touched first, five seconds ahead of second with a time of 4:33.46, while
Matthew Meyer finished third at 4:38.87.
Tyler Leslie was victorious in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:50.85, four seconds ahead of second place.
Emanuel Anguelov followed in third with a time of 1:55.06, while
Michael Garland clocked in at 1:55.15 for fourth, and Henry Chapon secured fifth at 1:58.69.
In the 200 free relay, Retting, Sievert, Leslie, and Bannister touched first with a time of 1:21.91, which is .60 seconds behind the Division III best time. Later in the 400 medley, Leslie, Addison, Rettig, and Bannister claimed first with a time of 3:21.39.
After the second day, the women's team sits in second with 302 team points, 40 behind Wheaton in first. The men's team is in first with 403 points and is 65 ahead of Carthage in second. Both teams will be back in action for day three of the CCIW Championships.
