WHITEWATER, Wis. — The Augustana Vikings men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened a busy weekend Friday with several distance runners competing in the Midwest Elite 5K, hosted by Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Three women and six men represented the Vikings, with multiple season-best performances highlighting the evening.
In heat three of the women's race,
Keira Nelson clocked a season-best 18:39.15.
Ryan Jednachowski crossed the line in 18:57.73 in heat two, good for fifth place, while
Renee Jednachowski posted a 19:07.85 in heat one to finish second.
On the men's side,
Isaac Schuda delivered a season-best 15:57.84 in heat one, placing third in his section.
Ben Gricius also recorded a season-best mark in the same heat, finishing in 16:18.30.
Christian Haywood turned in a 16:12.01 performance, while
Jaden Gocken (16:36.34) and
Lukas Nykaza (16:34.94) were separated by just .60 seconds.
Ethan Storie rounded out the Vikings' efforts with a time of 16:44.43.
Augustana continues its indoor campaign Saturday at the Roger Haynes Memorial, hosted by Monmouth, on February 14.
