DECATUR, Ill. - For their final CCIW game on the road, Augustana College women's volleyball (8-15, 1-6) traveled to Millikin University (12-14, 3-4) Friday night. The Big Blue had Augie's number all match as the Vikings fell 3-0.

How it Happened
First Set
Millikin came out of the gate hot, taking a quick 6-1 lead. Two kills and an attack error got Augie back within striking range before the teams swapped scores until it was 9-6 in favor of Millikin. The Vikings would eventually tie things up at 11-11 thanks to a 5-2 run. However, an eight-point spree by the Big Blue suddenly put them on top 19-11.
An attack error ended the Millikin run, but the Big Blue added another four points to their total to bump their lead up to 11 at 23-12. Alyse Murphy-Spiteri managed to grab a kill, but back-to-back Millikin points ended the set 25-13 in Millikin's favor.
Second Set
This time it was Augustana who jumped out to an early advantage as they started set two with a 6-2 lead. Three straight Millikin points brought the gap down to one, but Augie managed to hold on to their advantage thanks to a trio of points. A 4-2 Big Blue spree made it a two point game, but another three-point run from the Vikings upped their lead to 14-9.
Millikin took five of the next eight points to pull back within three before they rattled off seven points in a row to jump ahead of Augie, 21-17. Augustana responded with a 3-1 run to get within a pair of points, but the Big Blue eventually hit set point at 24-21. Not able to make a mistake, Augie scored three consecutive points to tie Millikin at 24-all and force extra volleyball in set two.
After tying each other again at 25-25, a pair of errors from the Vikings sealed their fate in set two as they fell 27-25.
Third Set
Set three was back-and-forth to start as the teams slowly worked their way to an 8-8 tie. A 5-1 Millikin run finally created some distance between the squads as the Big Blue took a 13-9 lead. The squads then traded scores until back-to-back Augustana points made it a two-point game at 15-13. After each team added another point to their total, Millikin scored three points consecutively to up their lead to five, 19-14.
A service error brought Augie to 15 points, but another trio of Big Blue points made it 22-15. Augie managed to add another two points to their total, but Millikin scored the final three points of the set to claim set three 25-17 and complete the sweep of the Vikings.
