ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Augustana College cross country hosted their first meet of the year on Saturday with the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational at Saukie Golf Course. Both Augie squads had a strong showing, with the men's team placing fourth of the 18 teams competing in the 8-kilometer run while the women were third out of 19 teams in the 6-kilometer.Â

Men's Team
Augustana's men's team took fourth place with their score of 123, barely edging out CCIW foe Wheaton and their score of 124.Â

Jaden Gocken was the highest finishing Viking, coming in 22nd place overall thanks to his time of 26:55.9. Not too far behind Gocken was Adam Miller in 31st (27:11.1) and Ben Gricius in 34th (27:13.0). Jose Gomez (43rd) and Lukas Nykaza (45th) both finished in the top-50 as well for Augustana.

Women's Team
As for Augie's women's squad, their score of 107 put them in third place.Â

The Vikings were paced by Keira Nelson, whose time of 23:56.6 was good for 16th place. Just 15 seconds behind Nelson was Norah Wright in 18th place. Augie had one more top-20 finisher in Ryan Jednachowski; the senior came in 19th with her mark of 24:14.2. Sammy Lehr and Frida Martinez contributed to Augustana's total score with their 26th- and 28th-place finishes while Kevine Agbade (33rd) and Renee Jednachowski (37th) occupied spots in the 30s. Elizabeth Lawton rounded out the Vikings in the top 50 with her 41st-place finish in 24:51.0.Â
