STERLING, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team fell to the North Park Vikings on Friday by a score of 4-3.
North Park took an early lead in doubles play after winning the first and third matches. Estefania Alejandra Casillas Velasco and Maripaz Ramirez secured the No. 2 spot for Augie with a 6-2 victory.
In singles play, Ramirez secured the top spot in three sets, winning 0-6, 6-3, 6-1, while Casillas Velasco claimed the No. 3 spot with a 6-4, 7-5 victory. Analia Pazmino Cedeno continued to battle for Augie, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win. However, the visitors found success in the fourth and sixth matches to secure the overall victory.
With the loss, Augie moves to 4-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference action. The Vikings will be back in action on Oct. 6 to host Elmhurst.
