DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team defeated the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Wednesday by a score of 33-14, winning seven of nine categories.
Jack Reina kicked off the midweek clash with a forfeit at 125 to secure the early lead.
Tyson Bruce followed with a fall in the 133 weight division to move the score to 12-0. St. Ambrose secured the next two weight classes to get within three points at 12-9.
Gianni Panozzo and
Jack Miller grabbed a decision in their respective categories to add three team points apiece. The Bees secured the 174 division before the Vikings closed the dual with victories in the final three classes. At 184,
Conor Phelan pinned his opponent to earn six team points, while
Braiden Young earned a 5-2 decision at 197.
Teke Nieto closed out the event with a pin in the heavyweight category to seal the 33-14 win.
With the win, Augie improves to 4-7 on the season. The Vikings will be back in action on Jan. 17 for the Mike Duroe Invite hosted by Cornell.
