WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed at the Thunder Invitational on Saturday, with both teams finishing second out of three teams. The men finished with a time score of 445, while the women earned 437 team points. Augustana competed only on the second day, participating in 19 of the 48 events.
In the mixed 200-yard medley relay,
Cesar Castillo,
Michael Garland,
Charlotte Vogen, and
Kendle Mihm finished second with a time of 1:43.75.
Oskar Bannister, Mihm, Lukas Rettig, and
Sophia Warren clocked in a time of 1:31.43 in the mixed 200-yard freestyle relay to place second.
In the men's individual events,
Tyler Leslie set a new school record early in the 400-yard individual medley, clocking 4:04.02. Bannister conquered the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.64, while
Ethan Herstedt clocked in at 1:52.40 for fourth place. In the 50-yard free,
Emanuel Anguelov touched first with a time of 21.51, while
Mark Addison earned a time of 21.96 for third, and
Teddy McGuire was fourth at 22.06. Rettig was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.22, while
Sam Kulisek clocked in third at 49.79.
Addison conquered the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:38.67, and Bannister followed in third at 4:55.15. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Leslie clocked a time of 59.36 to finish first
For the women's individual events,
Genevieve Ryan finished second with a time of 5:13.11 in the 400-yard individual medley. Mihm clocked in at 2:00.31 in the 200-yard freestyle, while
Mara Walker finished with a time of 2:05.63. In the 50-yard free, Mya Phenegr clocked a time of 26.13, while
Petra Evans finished at 26.24 for fifth.
Livy Sholl earned a time of 1:03.97 in the 100-yard fly, and Mihm was victorious in the 100-yard free with a time of 53.79.
Savannah Shapley clocked in second with a time of 5:32.11, with
Kylee Blaha following in third with a time of 5;37.57, and Warren placed fourth at 5:45.21. In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Ava Kauffeld clocked in a time of 1:11.16 to finish second.
The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31 to host Wheaton for Senior Day.
