ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team fell to the Aurora Spartans and Wheaton Thunder on Friday in the CCIW Duals. The Spartans defeated Augie 43-5, while the Thunder earned a 33-6 victory.
In the first round against Aurora, the Spartans conquered the first eight weight classes to run away with the 38-0 upper hand. In the 197 weight class,
Braiden Young earned an 18-3 technical fall to award Augie with five team points. Aurora was victorious in the heavyweight category to seal the 43-5 win.
In the second CCIW round, both teams forfeited the 125 weight division before
Tyson Bruce secured the only win for the Vikings after a 10-3 decision in the 133 class. The Thunder secured the final eight categories to win 33-6.Â
With the two losses, Augie moves to 4-9 on the season and 2-6 in conference action.
The Vikings will return on Jan. 30-31 for the Pete Willson Invite hosted by Wheaton.Â
