The Augustana Vikings men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened their 2026 season with a strong showing at the Bumble Rumble, hosted by St. Ambrose University in Davenport.

On the women's side, the Vikings posted multiple top finishes across sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance, relays, jumps, and throws.

• Sprints & Hurdles
  Bridget Hecker won the 200m dash in 26.53, while Leila Sifford took third in 27.12.
  Sophomore Khaliah Knox placed second in the 60m hurdles (9.75) and added a third-place finish in the high jump (1.41m).
   
• Middle Distance
  Norah Wright took second in the 800m (2:23.41), with Marie Weber finishing fifth (2:31.38).
  Emma Kuo placed fifth in the 600m (1:52.64).
   
• Distance
  Keira Nelson finished fourth in the 3000m (10:52.92), and Ryan Jednachowski took sixth (11:00.89).
   
• Relays
  The Augustana "A" team (Cora Deemer, Bridget Hecker, Jordyn Van Santen, Leila Sifford) earned second in the 4x400m relay (4:10.98).
  The "C" team (Luniah Gilford, Marie Weber, Norah Wright, Frida Martinez) placed fourth (4:20.25).
   
• Jumps
  Leila Sifford took second in the triple jump (10.73m) and fourth in the long jump (5.11m).
  Liz Hayes placed third in the triple jump (10.54m), while Jasmine Kenney finished fourth in triple jump (10.31m) and sixth in long jump (5.03m).
   
• Throws
  Senior Charlotte Frere earned third in the weight throw (14.25m) and fifth in the shot put (11.81m).
   

The men had several stand out performances as well, especially in the hurdles and sprints.

• Distance
  Lukas Nykaza (16:30.76), Ben Gricius (16:31.02), and Liam Storie took second, third, and fifth in the 5000m.
  Milo McLeer placed fourth in the 3000m (9:05.55).
   
• Hurdles
  Augustana swept four of the top five spots in the 60m hurdles:
  1st – AJ Banks (8.45)
  2nd – Brayden Veil (8.65)
  3rd/4th (tie) – Conner Calhoun & Elijah Lara (8.91)
   
• Sprints
  Tyreke Fortney won the 60m dash (6.88).
  Mohamed Benbrahim took fourth in the 200m (23.29).
   
• Middle Distance
  Daniel Prochaska claimed first in the 1000m (2:35.96), with Ben Milner third (2:42.39) and Ted Gray fourth (2:44.77).
   
• Relays
  The "A" team (AJ Banks, Mohamed Benbrahim, Elijah Lara, Conner Calhoun) finished second in the 4x400m relay (3:30.33).
   
• Throws
  Magnus Wells won the weight throw (17.60m), narrowly ahead of teammate Landon Wierenga (17.51m, second). Wells also took fifth in the shot put (14.25m).
   
• Jumps
  Caden Eller placed second in the high jump (1.89m) and fourth in the long jump (6.65m), with Prestin Stabler taking fifth in long jump (6.65m).
  Collin Ferry finished fifth in the pole vault (3.70m).

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, January 24 at the Hilltop Invitational, in Mount Verson, Iowa. This event is hosted by Cornell College. The event is slated to start at 11 a.m.
