DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings cross country teams opened their season at the Bob Schultz Invite hosted by Loras on Friday. The men finished second out of nine teams, while the women clinched third out of six.
On the men's side, Christian Haywood was the top finisher for the Vikings with a time of 16:16.4, and Jaden Gocken followed in 18th with a time of 16:27.8. Ethan Storie clinched 20th, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:32.2, while Daniel Prochaska placed 23rd at 16:41.1 and Milo McLeer crossed the finish line a second later at 16:42.6 for 25th. Liam Storie followed in 26th with a time of 16:43.2 to finish in the top 30.
For the women, Keira Nelson crossed the finish line first for Augie at 19:24.8 for an overall finish of seventh. Frida Martinez followed in 10th with a time of 19:49.7, and Ryan Jednachowski clocked a time of 19:53.5 to finish 12th. Sammy Lehr crossed the finish line 16th with a time of 20:16.3, and Norah Wright clinched a top 20 time of 20:23.9 for a 19th place finish.
The Vikings will be back in action on Saturday, September 13, for the Luther All-American Invite.
