GREENWOOD, Ind. -- A total of three Augustana student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators track & field/cross country Academic All-District teams, the organization announced Tuesday. Magnus Wells, Joe Langridge, and AJ Banks earned the accolade on the men's side.
Wells, a junior thrower from Hillsboro, Ill., earned All-Conference this season in the shot put and javelin throw. During the indoor season, Wells finished third in the shot put event and followed with the title later in the outdoor season. The senior also placed second in the javelin throw and was later named the CCIW Field Athlete of the Meet after scoring in four events. Wells finished the season on the USTFCCCA All-Region list in the javelin throw. This season marks his second All-District honors.
Langridge, a senior from Des Plaines, Ill., graduated this past spring with a degree in Economics and Geography at Augustana. The senior earned this award for the third time after notching All-Conference honors during the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season, Langridge was a part of the DMR team that set a new school record along with the conference title, and finished second in the 3000m run. He obtained the 3000m steeplechase in the outdoor season and second place in the 5000m. In May, the senior was listed on the USTFCCCA All-Region list and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship, where he boasted All-American honors in the 3,000m steeplechase. Langridge also was a First Team All-Conference performer in cross country this fall and earned academic recognition on an individual level from the USTFCCCA.
Banks, a sophomore from Freeburg, Ill., is a Kinesiology major at Augustana. This is the first time the sophomore has boasted All-District honors after earning All-Conference in both indoor and outdoor seasons. Banks was a part of the DMR team that set a new school record to earn the conference title during the indoor season, while collecting third in the 55m hurdles and 4x400 relay. During the outdoor season, Banks was the CCIW champion in the 400m hurdles and finished second in the 110m hurdles. The sophomore appeared on the USTFCCCA All-Region list in the 110m and 400m hurdles and collected Second Team All-American honors after his 14th-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Wells and Langridge will both advance to the CSC Academic All-American national ballot.
