GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Six Vikings have been named to the College Sports Communicators Women's At-Large Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday. Charlotte Newport, Ocean Akau, Waiahuli Akau of women's water polo, Maddie Lathrop of women's bowling, Kelsey O'Connor of women's golf, and Colleen Chiavola of women's lacrosse were among those recognized. 

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Newport, a senior from Baytown, Texas, graduated with a degree in History at Augustana. In 2025, the senior grabbed First-Team All-CWPA honors for the third time in her career and capped off the season with an All-Tournament team nod at the USA Water Polo Division III National Tournament. Newport recently earned All-American recognition after leading the Vikings in goals with 40 and assists with 33, also posting 24 draw exclusions, 31 steals, and 10 field blocks.

O. Akau, a senior from Pana'ewa, Hawai'i, graduated from Augie this spring with a degree in Psychology. This season she collected an honorable mention as ACWPC All-American and earned her third straight All-CWPA recognition. Akau ranked second on the Vikings behind Newport with 35 goals and also added 22 steals and 11 assists. 

W. Akau, a sophomore from Pana'ewa, Hawai'i, studies Elementary Education at Augustana. In 2025, she notched CWPA All-Conference Honorable Mention after posting 18 goals, 14 assists, 17 drawn exclusions, and 22 steals. 

Lathrop, a senior from Sycamore, Ill., graduated with a degree in Pre-Medicine and Public Health. This season she earned her fourth straight All-CCIW recognition with second-team honors and earned NTCA All-Academic recognition earlier this month. 

O'Connor, a senior from St. Charles, Ill., graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Marketing at Augustana. This season she posted a first-place finish and three top-20 finishes, with her lowest round score being 71.  

Chiavola, a sophomore from Chicago, Ill., is an Engineering major at Augie. In 2025, she started in all 15 games, with 14 goals, two assists, 16 points, 30 ground balls, and 17 caused turnovers. 

Newport, Akau, and Lathrop are now eligible for CSC Academic All-American and will advance to the national ballot. The voting period will begin this week.
