STERLING, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team picked up a 4-1 win on Thursday over the Millikin Big Blue to advance to the CCIW Tournament semifinals on Friday.
It was a close battle to begin the match, with each team securing a win through the first two doubles contests. 
Aingeru Garcia and 
Santiago Diaz notched a 6-2 decision at No. 3 for Augie, with Millikin taking No. 2 by a score of 6-3. 
Arthur Hermange and 
David Larraga erased a 5-4 deficit at No. 1 to force a tiebreaker, securing it 7-2 to earn the first point for the team. Augustana led 1-0 entering singles play.
Millikin earned a point back with the first win in singles at No. 4, but the Vikings collected the final three wins to seal the match. Hermange was victorious at No. 1 by a final of 6-4, 6-1, while 
Saman Rezaeyan also earned a victory in straight sets at No. 2 by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Diaz bounced back from a first-set defeat at No. 3 with back-to-back 6-0 decisions in the second and third to clinch the win for Augustana.
With the results, Augie improves to 13-4 on the season and will take on the No. 2 seeded Carthage Firebirds tomorrow morning in the semifinals.
