Arthur Hermange evened the score with a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 1. The Firebirds grabbed victories at the No. 2 and 3 slots before
David Larraga inched Augie closer with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4.
Timothee Philip evened the score for the Vikings with a 7-6, 6-3 triumph at the No. 6 slot, setting up a match-deciding finish at No. 5. After an 7-6 (8-6) first set went in favor of Carthage,
Santiago Diaz bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second to force a third. His opponent sealed the match win for the Firebirds with a 6-3 score in his favor.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCIW. The team will be back in action next Saturday when they host North Central.Â
