Box Score DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team earned a road victory over the Millikin Big Blue on Saturday by a score of 6-1.
The Vikings claimed the doubles point after taking two of three matches to begin the afternoon.
Timothee Philip and
Saman Rezaeyan made quick work of their opponent with a 6-0 decision at No. 3, but Millikin answered with a victory at No. 2 to even the score.
Arthur Hermange and
David Larraga clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1 to give Augie a 1-0 lead entering singles play.
Five of the six matches in singles went in favor of the Vikings, beginning with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 6 from Philip. Hermange was victorious at No. 1 with a final of 6-3, 6-1. while
Nicolas Navarro earned a straight-set win at No. 5 with a score of 6-3, 6-2. The two wins for Hermange on the day gave him over 100 for his career, the 21st player in program history to eclipse that milestone. Elsewhere,
Santiago Diaz secured a 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, while Rezaeyan notched the final win of the day at No. 2 in three sets.
With the results, Augustana improves to 11-4 on the season and 5-1 in CCIW play. The team can clinch a share of the regular season conference title tomorrow with a win over Illinois Wesleyan.
