Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team picked up a road victory over the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks on Saturday by a score of 5-2.
The Vikings earned the early advantage after clinching the doubles point. The team saw wins in all three matches, highlighted by a quick 6-1 victory at No. 3 from
Timothee Philip and
Saman Rezaeyan. At No. 1,
Arthur Hermange and
David Larraga took down their opponent by a score of 6-4, while
Santiago Diaz and
Aingeru Garcia collected a 6-3 decision at No. 2. Augustana led 1-0 entering singles competition.
Half of the contests in singles play went three sets, but the Vikings won all three of the matches that were decided in two. Hermange posted a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at the top position, while Garcia notched a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6. Rezaeyan battled through a 7-6 first-set victory before winning 6-4 in the second at No. 2. At the No. 5 slot, Philip bounced back from a first-set defeat with wins in the final two to close out the 5-2 score.
With the results, Augustana improves to 7-3 overall. The team will be back in action April 4 to begin CCIW action against Carroll.
