KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's track & field team finished fifth at the CCIW Indoor Championships over the weekend.
On Friday,
Keira Nelson earned sixth in the 5000m run after posting an All-CCIW time of 18:52.52.
Heather Michalski placed fourth in the weight throw to earn All-Conference, tossing a distance of 15.52m, while
Cora Heller also earned fourth in the pole vault after clearing 3.44m.
McKenzie Reser set a school record in the 55m dash with a time of 7.03.
On Saturday,
Lina Maatouk was crowned the conference champion in the 800m run after posting a time of 2:13.79, nearly three seconds faster than the second place finisher. She also won the mile race with a time of 5:01.48 to earn her second conference title of the day, also good for second-fast time in school history. Maatouk was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished third, clocking a time of 4:05.85 with teammates
Jordyn Van Santen,
Kira Nelson, and Reser. Elsewhere on the track, Reser was the conference champion in the 400m dash after ending with a time of 55.94, also good for a school record. Reser also earned All-Conference in the 55m dash with a time of 7.87 and in the 200m after clocking 24.98.
Emma Odle secured second place in the 3000m with a time of 10:07.62.
In Saturday field events, Michalski claimed All-Conference honors in the shot put after a distance of 13.33m placed her fourth.
Madison Wies was named the recipient of the CCIW's RESPECT Award.
As a team, the Vikings finished fifth with 69 points, just one behind fourth-place Carthage and seven ahead of Wheaton in sixth. Augie will be back in action next Saturday for the Wartburg Qualifier.
