DECORAH, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming and diving programs concluded the Luther Invitational on Saturday. The men finished third with a score of 541.5, while the women finished fifth out of eight teams with a final score of 286.
On the men's side, Luke Rettig,
Jake McCormack,
Emanuel Anguelov, and
Bjorn Sievert claimed the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:24.64. In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Anguelov,
Matthew Meyer,
Teddy McGuire, and Rettig finished first with a time of 7:04.43.
Cesar Castillo,
Michael Garland, Rettig, and Sievert clocked in second in the 400-yard medley at 3:30.87. In the 200-yard medley relay, Castillo, Meyer, Rettig, and Sievert touched second at 1:34.26. Sievert, McGuire, Anguelov, and Rettig closed out the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:07.45.
In individual events, Sievert claimed the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.69, and Rettig followed in second at 46.74. Anguelov secured fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.94. In the 500-yard freestyle, Meyer finished fourth with a time of 4:51.43, while Garland secured fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.22. Castillo touched second in the 100-yard individual medley at 53.55. In the 400-yard individual medley, Anguelov clocked in a time of 4:13.57. Garland touched fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 59.79, while Sievert conquered the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.94. In the 1650-yard freestyle, Meyer finished second with a time of 16:57.11.
For the women,
Kylee Blaha,
Ava Kauffeld,
Savannah Shapley, and
Giselle Koonce claimed the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:51.31. In the 800-yard freestyle relay,
Caitlin Stoddard,
Kendle Mihm,
Mya Pheneger, and Koonce finished sixth with a time of 8:23.85.
Individually, Shapley clinched fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.10 and finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:26.09. Â
The Vikings will be back in action to host Coe on Saturday, Jan. 10.
