ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Augustana Vikings competed at the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championships on Saturday, turning in solid performances as the men's team placed 16th overall with 490 points, while the women's squad posted a 17th-place finish with 424 points.
Augustana's men were led by
Adam Miller, who ran a strong race to place 84th in 26:51.5, marking a season-best performance. Close behind,
Christian Haywood clocked 26:59.9 for 91st, also securing a season best.
Jose Gomez delivered a steady run to finish 98th in 27:10.0, followed by
Daniel Prochaska, who crossed in 27:18.2 for 104th.
Emiliano Almendariz added a 27:36.6 finish, placing 119th, while
Jaden Gocken (27:42.0, 126th) and
Isaac Schuda (28:17.1, 140th) rounded out the scoring for the Vikings.
With all seven runners inside the top 140 of a highly competitive region, Augustana secured a 16th-place team finish.
The women's team was paced by
Ryan Jednachowski, who continued her consistent postseason form with a 37th-place finish in 23:21.6.
Keira Nelson followed with a strong push through the final kilometer, finishing 89th in 24:22.6.
Renee Jednachowski delivered a nearly identical performance, placing 91st in 24:24.1, while Mackenzie Meirhaeghe (24:44.5, 107th) and
Frida Martinez (24:44.9, 108th) finished within half a second of each other to secure critical scoring positions.
Rounding out the top seven were
Norah Wright (24:46.8, 109th) and
Sammy Lehr (25:20.4, 129th), giving the Vikings a compact 1–7 spread.
With five runners inside the top 110, Augustana earned 17th place as a team, closing the season with one of their strongest collective efforts.
