BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming & diving team finished first out of five teams on Saturday at the IWU Halloween Invite. The team earned a score of 272, sitting 100 points ahead of Illinois Wesleyan in second place.
The Vikings won 20 of the 30 events on the day, with
Sophia Warren,
Kendle Mihm,
Giselle Koonce, and
Mya Pheneger leading off with a win in the 500-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:54.97. Mihm finished the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.24 to clock in first, and Phenerger followed with a time of 26.19, and
Charlotte Vogen clinched third with a time of 26.41. Mihm would also capture the podium in the 100-yard freestyle with a 54.92. Augustana claimed 4 of the top 5 placements in that event.Â
In the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay,
Livy Sholl,
Caitlin Stoddard, and
Ava Kauffeld finished with a time of 3:38.40. Pheneger, Sholl, Vogen, and Mihm conquered the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.09.
Savannah Shapley clocked a time of 2:20.84 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Victoria Krol finished in 3rd with a 2:30:04. In the Women's 200-yard backstroke
Natalie Salazar finished 2nd with a 2:20.60.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Mihm, Vogen, Pheneger, and
Sophia Warren captured the podium with a 1:42.46
Luke Rettig,
Bjorn Sievert,
Matthew Meyer, and
Ethan Herstedt claimed the 500-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:2.55. In the 3x100-yard butterfly relay, Jack McCormack,
Emanuel Anguelov, and
Elliot Martillo finished with a time of 2:42.99 for first.
Cesar Castillo,
Alex Xayachanla, and Rettig finished first in the 3x100 backstroke relay with a time of 2:46.98. Sievert conquered the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.08, while
William Quesnell clocked a time of 23.20 and
Sam Kulisek finished third at 23.47. In the 100-yard freestyle, the Vikings claimed the top four placements with Kulisek taking first with a 49.63,
Teddy McGuire finished 49.95, and McCormack rounded out the podium with a 50.11.
In the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay,
Michael Garland,
Matthew Meyer, and
Alejandro Jacob finished first with a time of 2:04.73. Castillo, Garland, McCormack, and Sievert finished first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.09.
Carter Lavold clinched a time of 1:56.69 in the 200-yard butterfly to finish first. Anguelov placed first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.10 and Garland finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.27.
Ryan Dedland finished the one-meter diving with a final score of 120.15. In the 3x 100 yard medley the Augustana team of Garland, Anguelov, and Castillo would finish in first with a 2:49:87. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Rettig, McCormack, Anguelov, and Sievert captured the podium with a 5-second margin time of 1:26:57.
