KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team fell to the Carthage Firebirds in a tough battle on Saturday by a score of 4-3.
In doubles play,
Anna-Maria Huebel and
Maripaz Ramirez were victorious in the No. 2 spot with a final score of 6-1, but the Vikings fell at No.1 and No. 3 to allow the Firebirds to lead 1-0 entering singles play.
Ramirez claimed the No. 2 spot in singles action after set scores of 6-1 and 6-2, while Huebel secured the No. 3 spot with a final score of 6-2.
Maitreyi Shrikhande secured the No. 6 spot after three sets with a 6-4 win and a 1-0 tiebreaker.
Colleen Larry forced a third set after winning the first one 6-4 at No. 4 to play for two and a half hours.
The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow for the final match of the fall season at Carroll.
