BLOOMINGTON, Ill -- The Augsutana Vikings women's basketball team fell to the No. 2 Illinois Wesleyan Titans on Wednesday night by a score of 75-38.
The Titans scored first to secure the early advantage before Paige Melton put up three points for Augie to even the score at 3-3. Illinois Wesleyan regained the lead with five minutes remaining and concluded the first quarter with 19 consecutive points to make a 28-7 score. In the second quarter, the Titans outscored the Vikings 18-8, with four of Augie's points coming from the free-throw line.
In the second half, Illinois Wesleyan continued their momentum to secure the 75-38 victory.
Melton led the team with 12 points and four assists. Cali Papez collected five shots off the glass and notched two blocks.
With the loss, Augie moves to 5-8 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Vikings will stay on the road on Saturday, January 11 to battle North Park.
