Later that year in the outdoor season, Jones won the 5,000m for the Vikings
In her senior campaign, Chargois was again successful in the 3,000m during indoor season, winning the event at the CCIW Championships for the second straight season. She followed it up with another win in the 5,000m at the CCIW outdoor meet, also grabbing first in the 10,000m on her way to a CCIW Athlete of the Meet award. Chargois currently works as a Content Strategy Manager, where she has been for the last seven years.
Enyo Dewith was a seven-time CCIW champion for the Vikings, winning three events in 1973 in the 440, long jump, and mile relay. The following season, Dewith won his second straight 440 race and mile relay, qualifying for nationals in the relay event and finishing fourth to earn All-American status. He also was a part of the championship-winning 440 relay team at the CCIW Championships that season.
Dewith closed out his career in 1975, winning his third straight conference title in both the 440 in mile relay.
Dewith has been coaching at Augustana for over 40 years at Augustana after an illustrious career as Viking himself. While earning his degree in studio arts and education, Enyo became a seven-time conference champion in track and field competing in sprints and long jump. He is a two-time All-American in 440 yard dash and the mile relay still holding both records at Augustana. Additionally, Dewith is ranked No. 10 all-time in the 400m dash with a time of 48.44.
Originally from Springfield Southeast High in Springfield, Ill., DeWith is a retired firefighter and model and now long time resident of Rock Island.
Steve Durian finished his successful career with the Augustana men's wrestling program with a 43-19 overall record. After competing in just matches in 1966-67, Durian had his first and only losing record his sophomore season before winning 16 times in 1968-69 with just seven losses. Durian had a monster senior campaign, posting a 20-4 record and earning All-American status with teammate Tim Dodge in 1970. He was also one of five conference champions for the Vikings in 1970.
Durian went out for football his freshman season and wore the No. 14, which was then worn by Ken Anderson years later before being retired by Augustana. Durian was recruited as a 137-pound wrestler but before he arrived on campus grew into the next upper weight classes. They were two returning conference champions in the 145 and 152 classes at Augustana who he mentions taught him a lot about college wrestling.
Durian earned a B.A in Business Administration from Augustana before receiving a Master's in Business Administration from Western Illinois in 1975.
Kenny Harris appeared in 75 games from 1982-86 and was an All-Conference selection during his junior and senior seasons. He finished his career with 885 points scored for an average just under 12. Harris currently sits seventh all-time in program history in field goal percentage, knocking down 57.1 percent of his looks across four years. His 61.1 percent effort in 1984-85 ranks ninth all-time for best shooting percentage in a single season.
Harris was a part of four winning seasons with the Vikings, never finishing below fourth in conference play. He ranks in the top 50 in multiple career categories, including free throw percentage, blocked shots, and rebounds.
In addition to basketball, Harris was also a successful track & field student-athlete at Augustana. He was an All-American in 1986 in the 400m hurdles, finishing eighth at the outdoor national meet. He also won the 400 IH CCIW title in 1985 and is fifth all-time in that event with a time of 52.69 in 1986.
Harris graduated from Augustana with an Accounting degree.
Chet Jacks was also a dual-sport athlete for basketball and track & field during his time at Augustana. Jacks is a member of the 1,000-point club with Augustana men's basketball, scoring 1,050 for his career for an average of 13.0 per outing in over 80 games played. He is on multiple all-time top 50 lists within the program, including field goals made, free throws made, rebounds, and assists. He is 10th in program history in field goal percentage, sitting just three spots below Harris with a mark of 56.3 percent. His 1,050 points scored still sits within the top 25 all-time to this day. He was a two-time All-Conference selection, earning First Team in 1978 and Second Team in 1979. The Vikings took second in conference all four seasons he played.
In track & field, Jacks was the CCIW champion in the long jump in 1979. He currently holds No. 9 in the program's outdoor record book in that event with a mark of 7.13m set in 1978.
Jacks earned his Business Administration degree from Augustana in 1979. He has been working on the Rock Island Arsenal since 2009.
Crystal Putman Keller was an electric pitcher for the Augustana softball program and despite playing the early 1980s, still holds records to this day. She began her career in 1979 and appeared in 15 games with a 3.28 earned run average. The following season, she doubled the amount of appearances and had just six more earned runs than she did her freshman year, pitching over 188 innings compared to 91. She ended the 1980 season with 83 strikeouts and boasted a 22-4 record with a 1.82 ERA. The 188.1 innings and 22 wins are both school records for a single season.
Her junior year finished the lowest ERA of her career at 1.60, winning 11 games and striking out 61 in 126.2 innings. She wrapped up her time at Augustana with 12 more wins in 1982 to put her career record at 54-25. The 54 wins are good for third most all-time in Augustana softball history. She also sits second in innings pitched and sixth in strikeouts for a career.
The 1991-92 men's wrestling team had a wave of talent all throughout their roster, boasting seven CCIW champions, which still stands as the third-most all time to this day. At the time, the Vikings were coming off their 11th straight conference title as a team, a streak that eventually reached 15 through the mid 90s. Augie won the 1991-92 championships with 108.5 team points, 36 ahead of second-place Elmhurst.
Raphael Wilson was the NCAA Division III champion that season in the 134 class. He finished the year 41-1-1, which ranks him third all-time for best winning percentage in a single season. The Vikings finished fourth as a team at nationals, which still serves as their highest national standing ever.
Overall, Augustana ended the season with an 18-4 overall record. Led by all-time wins leader Kevin Puebla at head coach, the team featured three All-Americans in Craig Wagner, Steve Rusk and Raphael Wilson. Wagner is third-all-time with 151 career wins, while Wilson is the all-time leader with 175. Rusk currently sits behind Wilson for best winning percentage in a career at .944. He ended his time at Augustana with a 153-24-1 record.
