ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's basketball team returns to the Carver Center on Wednesday, January 15 to battle the Millikin Big Blue.

The Vikings enter the contest with a 6-8 record and 2-3 in conference play. The team returns to action after defeating North Park on Saturday by a score of 66-41.

The Vikings grabbed the first five points of the game following baskets by Emma Berg and Paige Melton before Carly Stone broke the second and final tie of the afternoon with a three-pointer to make it 10-7. From there, the scoring run continued as Augie notched the final six points of the frame to lead 16-7. North Park shrunk the gap to make it a 30-24 score at halftime. The Vikings saw their lead reach double figures numerous times in the period, with the biggest lead sitting at 12 on two different occasions, but the home team used a 6-0 run in the last minute of action to cut the deficit in half.

After North Park cut the differential to five early in the third, the Vikings quickly moved the cushion back to double figures with six straight points. Augie eventually tied its largest lead at 12 again, but North Park countered to bring it back under 10. Consecutive baskets from Stone gave Augustana a 47-33 advantage entering the fourth. The Vikings out-scored North Park 19-8 in the final period to run away with the 25-point victory.

Millikin enters the contest with an overall record of 4-10 and 3-2 in CCIW play. The Big Blue return to action after defeating Carthage last Saturday by a score of 55-52. The team shot 36.7 percent in field goals with 20 points in the paint. Emily Brenneisen led the team with 17 points and two assists, while Matayia Tellis collected four steals, two assists, and a block. Millikin holds a 2-4 away record with their last road matchup being the win against Carthage.

The Big Blue holds a 57-32 all-time series record over Augie. Millikin conquered the most recent matchup in the Carver Center last season with a 64-53 score. Berg led with 15 points and two steals.
