ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team will begin its dual-meet schedule on Saturday when they welcome in the Wheaton Thunder for CCIW clash.
Augustana will have its first head-to-head matchup of the season after completing the Warhawk Invite last weekend to kick off the 2024-25 campaign.
Anna-Maria Huebel made it to the consolation final in the top singles flight, but fell in her match with UW-Oshkosh by a score of 8-3. In the No. 3 singles draw,
Mikayla Kelly bounced back from a pair of losses to start the day and won the seventh-place contest by a score of 8-0.
In the No. 1 doubles flight,
Hannah Colbert and
Colleen Larry also were victorious in the seventh-place match, winning over UW-Oshkosh by a score of 8-4.
The Vikings finished the 2023-24 season with a 9-13 record.
Wheaton comes into Saturday's showdown with a 1-1 record so far this season, recently falling in a 4-3 decision against Lake Forest. The Thunder picked up a season-opening 7-0 victory over MSOE last Friday to begin their 2024-25 slate. Wheaton finished last season with a 14-5 overall mark.
The Thunder lead the all-time series 41-19 and have won the last three meetings, including last year's 6-3 triumph.
