ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team will be back in the Carver Center on Tuesday, October 1 when they welcome in the Monmouth Fighting Scots for a non-conference clash.
Augustana currently sits at 6-8 on the season and recently saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with a pair of losses against Wartburg and UW-Platteville last Friday. In each outing, the Vikings bounced back with a win in set two to even each match at 1-1, but both the Knights and Pioneers grabbed the final two to complete the 3-1 victory.
Emily Schipper posted double-digit kills in each of the contests and combined for 29 total on the evening.
Ashley Awbrey averaged just under four digs per set after totaling 30 across the two matches.
Monmouth enters Tuesday with a 10-7 overall record and also recently saw its three-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday in a 3-2 loss to Anderson. Prior to the defeat, the Scots picked up a neutral-site five-set win over Luther before back-to-back road wins over Eureka and Rose-Hulman. Overall, Monmouth has won seven of its last 10 and is 2-2 on the road this season. Offensively, the Scots are led in kills by Kaylee Celus, who is averaging 4.10 per game. Savannah Robinson anchors the defense is collecting 4.42 digs per game with a total of 292 on the year.
Tuesday will be the 57th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Augie leading the series 31-23-2. The Vikings have won the last six encounters dating back to 2013, including a 3-1 home win in the most recent outing back in 2022.
