JOLIET, Ill. -- Members of the Augustana Vikings men's and women's track & field teams competed at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday in field events, Aykeem Spivey placed third in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.86 meters, while Mike Hudson threw 50.90 meters to finish fifth in the javelin throw and Heather Michalski threw 36.38 meters to collect fifth place in her event. In the high jump, Rhiannon Marshall posted a mark of 1.55 meters to finish sixth.
On Saturday for the men, Sylvester Brady, Connor McBride, Jason Smith, and Sean Abracia-Wendel finished third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 43.10. In the 1500-meter, Christian Haywood crossed the finish line ninth at 4:14.83, followed closely behind by Grant Ackard in 10th with a time of 4:15.88.Â
In field events, Derek Butts finished sixth in the pole vault event with a height of 4.55 meters. Magnus Wells threw 12.97 meters in the shot put event to place in 10th and Caden Eller jumped 6.70 meters in the long jump event to finish seventh.
For the women, McKenzie Reser clocked in a time of 12.18 in the 100-meter finals to place seventh. In field events, Elizabeth Hayes took sixth place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.57 meters and Hannah Johnson jumped 10.12 meters for ninth.Â
The Vikings will host the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier on May 15-16.
