Men’s and women’s golf conquers Viking Invitational

ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's golf teams conquered the Viking Invitational on Friday and Saturday, The women were first out of eight teams and the men were first out of six. 

On the women's side, Avery Frick was the overall winner with a total of 151 after round scores of 77 and 74. Kelsey O'Connor followed in second place after hitting 77 in both rounds for a total of 154. Georgia Holt shot 78 on Friday and 80 on day two for a total of 158 to obtain fifth place, with Sarah Bond behind in sixth with a total of 160 after round scores of 82 and 78. 

Other finishers were Abby Buechele (166), Jama Burch (173), Emma Vander Wall (173), Lydia Hall (175), Olivia Schwingle (178), Ellie Jahn (183), Neleigh Rush (190), and Ciera Krogman (195).

As a team, the Vikings finished with a score of 623, which was 14 strokes ahead of second place.

For the men, Vilhelm Johansson hit 77 on Friday and moved up 10 placements with a round two score of 69 to finish first with a total of 146. Patrick McGrath and Alexandre Thery followed in second place with a total of 147. McGrath had round scores of 71 and 76, while Thery hit 72 in round one and 75 in round two. Sam Evenson finished in fifth along with Adam Soczka with 149 after both days. Evenson hit 73 and 76, while Soczka had round scores of 71 and 78. Jakob Stefanowicz obtained 10th place after hitting 75 on both days for a total of 150.

Other finishers among the three Augie teams were Carter Rose (151), Thomas Fornelli (151), Ryan Crowe (152), Noah Ehlenbach (1530, Dawson Haggard (153), Kevin Cortez  (153), Jacob Brokaw (156), David Schwartz (157), Danny Ford (158), Andrew Reishus (162), Luke Petersen (162), Crayton Hardin (163), Aaron Rogers (163), Dylan Malecha (170), and Aiden Heymann (187). 

As a team, the Vikings finished with a score of 583, which was nine strokes ahead of second place.

The women's team concluded their season, while the men will return to action on May 2-4 for the CCIW Championship.
