INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's track & field teams completed the second day of the Kip Janvrin Open on Friday, also sending a group to kick off their stay at the Drake Relays.
On the women's side at the Kip Janvrin Open, three individuals secured personal records in the 400-meter run, starting with Cora Deemer who ran a time of 1:00.91. Jordyn Van Santen crossed the finish line at 1:01.45, and Nabila Saam finished with a time of 1:05.05 to secure a personal record in the 400-meter run. Portia Carrera obtained a personal record in the 800-meter with a time of 2:30.45.
For the men, Jimmy Vercoe and Cameron Tomko secured season bests in the 400-meter. Vercoe ran a 51.44, while Tomko crossed the finish line at 51.50. Joe Gibbons clocked a new season best in the 800-meter with a time of 1:57.91.
At the Drake Relays, Charlotte Frere secured seventh place in the discus throw after throwing 46.65m in her fifth attempt. In the 4x200-relay, Deemer, McKenzie Reser, Van Santen, and Saam finished in the top 20 with a time of 1:43.80. The time was good for second fastest in program history, just .01 off the top mark.
The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow for their second day at the Drake Relays.
