DECORAH, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team dropped a road match to the Luther Norse on Sunday, falling by a score of 6-3.
Augie owned an early advantage after grabbing two of three doubles contests, notching a pair of close battles at No. 1 and No. 3. The duo of
Caitlyn Hanulikova and
Hannah Colbert earned a tie-breaking 8-7 victory at the top spot, while
Natasha Gauerke and
Maddy Harned secured an 8-6 triumph at No. 3. Augustana led 2-1 entering singles competition.
Five of the six singles matches went in favor of Luther, with two of the wins coming in three sets. Colbert snagged the lone win for the Vikings at No. 3 after defeating he opponent 6-1, 6-2.
With the loss, Augie drops to 9-12 overall. The team will be back in action on April 25 to face Carthage in the opening round of the CCIW Tournament.
