Four men's swimmers named CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. --  Four members of the Augustana Vikings men's swimming & diving team have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Augie's Oskar Bannister, Jack Brandt, Tyler Leslie, and Gavin McCorry were among those recognized.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's Swimming & Diving teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 

Bannister is from Bainbridge Island, Wash. and is a Psychology major at Augustana. Bannister won a CCIW individual title in the 100 free this season as well as three relay titles. He also earned All-CCIW in the 50 free and 200 free.

Brandt is from Geneva, Ill. and is a Computer Science major. He was the CCIW champion in the 50 free to go along with a 200-freestyle relay win. Brandt also claimed All-CCIW accolades in the 800-freestyle relay.

Leslie is from Aurora, Ill. and is a Computer Science major at Augustana. He secured conference titles in the 200-free relay, 500 freestyle, 800-freestyle relay, 1650, and 400-yard freestyle. He also set school records in the 1650, 400-medley relay, and 400-yard freestyle relay.

McCorry is from Elk Grove Village, Ill. and is a triple major in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Analytics. He was also a part of the record-breaking 400-medley relay and was a CCIW champion in the 800-freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, 200 backstroke, and 100 backstroke.

Both Leslie and McCorry will advance to the CSC Academic All-American voting round.
