WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 16 when they hit the road to take on the Wheaton Thunder.
Augustana enters the conference match with a 15-7 overall record and 3-3 mark in the CCIW. The team recently split a pair of home matches on Sunday, defeating the Loras Duhawks by a score of 5-4 before falling in a close battle to the Carroll Pioneers by the same score. Against the Duhawks, Augie stormed back from an early 3-0 deficit with wins in five of the six singles matches.Â
Eliot Saint-Paul was credited with the first point for the Vikings after a win by retirement at No. 6, followed by a pair of quick wins at No. 3, 4, and 5 fromÂ

Arturo Asensio. All three secured one 6-0 set win during their victories.Â
Deepak Vayara proved to be the clincher for the Vikings with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at the No. 1 position. Loras grabbed its lone singles win at No. 2.
The Vikings also battled back from a 3-0 deficit against Carroll and found themselves with a 4-3 after taking the first four singles matches. The Pioneers snagged the final two wins, including a third-set 7-5 win at the No. 3 position.
Wheaton currently sits with an 11-4 overall record and 2-1 mark in conference play. The Thunder have won two in a row, including a 5-4 victory over Carroll last Friday. Wheaton has won 10 of its 11 matches this spring, with the lone defeat coming to Carthage by a score of 7-2. The team boasts a perfect 4-0 record on their home courts this season.Â
Augustana is 24-49 all-time against Wheaton, with the Thunder winning the last three matches. Wheaton won both meetings last season, including a 5-2 victory in the CCIW Tournament quarterfinals.
