WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's track & field teams completed the Wheaton and Beloit Invitationals on Saturday. The women finished seventh out of 11 teams with 35 points at Wheaton, while the men also placed seventh out of 11 with 50 points.
For the women, McKenzie Reser finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12:19, followed by a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25:23. In the 400-meter dash, Cora Deemer crossed the finish line third with a time of 1:01.09. Jordyn Van Santen, Deemer, Lina Maatouk, and Reser ran a time of 4:03.69 in the 4x400 meter relay to secure fourth place.
On the men's side, Connor McBride conquered the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.61. Jack Bathje finished third in the 5000-meter run with a mark of 15:49.58 and AJ Banks placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.28. Sylvester Brady, Sean Abracia-Wendel, McBride, and Cameron Tomko crossed the finish fifth in the 4x100 relay with a time of 42.81, while Brady, McBride, Dean Check, and Banks ran a season-best time of 3:26.94 to obtain fifth place in the 4x400 relay.
In field events, Dakota Straight finished third with a height of 4.25 meters in the pole vault event.
The Vikings also had throwers at the Beloit Relays on Saturday, where Charlotte Frere conquered the discus throw with a distance of 47.96 meters and set a new meet record. Heather Michalski placed third in the javelin throw event with a distance of 37.15 meters, while Amelia Miller threw 34.21 meters to finish fourth.
For the men, Aykeem Spivey placed fourth in the hammer throw event with a distance of 54.20 meters, and Magnus Wells threw 53.49 meters in the javelin to secure second place.
The Vikings will be back in action on Friday to host the Augustana Meet of Champions.
