Track and field teams complete Walter Cramer Invite

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings track and field teams traveled to the campus of the Olivet Nazarene Tigers on Friday for the Walter Cramer Invite.

On the women's side, McKenzie Reser secured a fifth-place finish in the prelims of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.92 and moved up to fourth place in the finals race with a time of 7.93. Reser continued her success with a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.99, which puts her fourth all-time in the event for Augie. To cap off running events, Jordyn Van Santen, Reser, Cora Deemer, and Shakira Wade ran a time of 4:11.32 in the 4x400 meter relay to obtain second place. In field events, Allison Hunt jumped 1.50 meters in the high jump to get second place, while Heather Michalski threw 12.36 meters in the shot put to secure second. 

For the men, AJ Banks grabbed a third-place finish in the prelim race for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.65 and in the finals crossed the line at 8.70 to close out in fourth. In the 800-meter event, Joe Gibbons secured fourth at 2:00.70, while Alex Gazarek finished fifth in the 3000-meter run at 8:46.18. In the 4x400 meter relay, Connor McBride, Cameron Tomko, Jason Smith, and Dean Check ran a time of 3:30.50 and crossed the finish line third. In field events, Magnus Wells found victory in the weight throw with a throw of 16.59 meters, while Derek Butts finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 4.35 meters.

The track and field teams will return to Davenport, Iowa for the SAU Tune Up meet on February 10.
