BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's basketball team closed out the 2023-24 season with a loss to the No. 12 Illinois Wesleyan Titans in the CCIW Tournament semifinals on Thursday by a score of 77-51.
The Titans got on the board first, but Augie remained within a point until seven consecutive points from Illinois Wesleyan gave the home team a 12-4 advantage. The Titans ran away with the lead after another run, this time of 11 points, to secure the first quarter 31-12. Illinois Wesleyan maintained the advantage throughout the second quarter with a 15-11 margin. The Vikings secured their last two made shots in the quarter but headed into the halftime break trailing 46-23.
Augie out-scored Illinois Wesleyan in the third with a 16-12 differential, with the Vikings shooting 53.85 percent with seven made shots. Illinois Wesleyan remained in front by 19 after three quarters of action before closing out with a final score of 77-51.
Corey Whitlock led the Vikings with a double-double with 15 points, and 12 rebounds, while Cali Papez followed with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
With the loss, the Vikings finish the season with a 13-14 overall record. Season results and recaps can be found here.
