MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team hits the road for a non-conference dual against the Cornell Rams on Tuesday, February 20.

The Vikings sit at 14-5 on the season and return from the CCIW Championships on Thursday, where Augie finished fourth out of 11 teams and had five individuals finish in the top four. Jacob Badger conquered the 197 weight division with a bye, two major decisions, and a 7-2 decision to earn the first individual conference championship for the Vikings since 2019. Three wrestlers secured second in their respective weight classes, starting with Trevor Boryla in the 133 weight class with a fall and a 16-8 major decision before falling to his nationally-ranked opponent in the finals. Michael Macias finished second in the 149 division with a 17-0 technical fall, a fall, and a 8-3 decision, while Josh Woodrey earned second in the 285 category with a 15-0 technical fall, a fall, and a 4-0 decision before dropping the title match to his nationally-ranked opponent. Additionally, Jack Patting secured fourth in the 165 weight division.

In their last dual meet against Aurora at the CCIW Duals on January 20, the Vikings grabbed  25-20 victory.

Cornell has an overall record of 5-10 on the season and enters the dual meet after battling No. 5 Coe on Friday, concluding in a 30-14 loss. The Rams hold a 2-0 home record, with their last showdown being on November 9, defeating St. Ambrose 45-5. 

The Rams hold a 7-2 all-time record over Augie, with their last matchup on February 14, 2023, concluding in a 35-6 loss for the Vikings.
