Box Score HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team earned a road victory over the Hope Flying Dutch on Saturday, winning by a score of 7-2.
The Vikings grabbed the early advantage in the match with wins in two of the three doubles contests.
Saman Rezaeyan and
Nicolas Navarro made quick of their opponent at No. 3, winning by a score of 8-1, while
Timothee Philip and
Gabriel Luna earned an 8-5 triumph at No. 2. Augustana led 2-1 heading into singles.
Five of the six singles matches went in favor of Augie, with three of those coming in straight sets.
Arthur Hermange was victorious at No. 1, winning by a score of 6-2, 6-2, while Navarro went 6-1, 6-0 over his opponent at No. 6. Additionally,
David Larraga earned a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2, with Rezaeyan and Philip both taking down their counterparts in third-set tiebreakers to complete the 7-2 win for the Vikings.
With the result, Augustana improves to 5-2 on the season. The team will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at Kalamazoo.
