Box Score REDLANDS, Calif. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team was defeated in the USA Water Polo DIII National Tournament semifinal game on Saturday, falling to the No. 1 ranked Redlands Bulldogs by a score of 16-5.
It was a big opening half for the home team Redlands, out-scoring the Vikings 11-1 through the first two quarters of action. The Bulldogs sent in five goals in the first period while holding Augie scoreless before notching six tallies in the second to the Vikings' one.
Ian Palmroos accounted for the lone goal for Augustana in the half.
Redlands extended its advantage with a 3-1 third quarter margin.
Mark Addison secured a power play goal in the frame, but the Bulldogs led 14-2 entering the fourth. Augustana out-scored Redlands by a slim 3-2 difference in the final period, but the Bulldogs took the game at its 16-5 final.
Rhys Lomax scored twice in the quarter, while
Tyler Leslied added the other.
Augie will face No. 7 ranked MIT tomorrow in the third-place game.
