MILAN, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings bowling team placed fourth out of seven teams at the first CCIW tournament of the season on Sunday. The Vikings posted a total Baker score of 3,168 and 2,349 in traditional play for a total of 5,517 pins.
Cassie Kontos led the team in scoring with a sum of 544 after three games to finish sixth individually and had the team-high in strike percentage at 37 percent. Maddie Lathrop finished ninth after notching 531 for an average of 177. Lathrop was the leader with 78 percent filled frames and went eight-for-eight on makeable spares on Sunday.
Samantha Olson placed 15th with a score of 496 after three games and followed closely behind Sarah Stevanovic with a 78 percent in single-pin spares. Stevanovic collected 79 percent in single-pin spares and finished 21st after rolling 465. Cami Flores bowled one game with a score of 98 and struck 30 percent of her frames. Lili Leatherman shot a career-high in the match against Carthage and placed 34th with 216 pins after two games.
The team increased overall filled frames by six percent, while advancing seven percent in strikes and eight percent in single-pin spares conversions.
The Vikings will be back in action on January 11-12 for the Storm Baker Challenge hosted by Carthage.
