11/23/2024 5:01:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's swimming & diving team improved to 4-0 on the season following a 99-84 win over the Grinnell Pioneers on Saturday.

"Today was a great day of racing and we have enjoyed competing against Grinnell and look forward to continuing this rivalry for years to come" said head coach Dan Lloyd. "Senior day is always special and the senior class we honored today were freshmen when our pool opened, so we have truly come full circle. They have made a major impact on our program in four years and I am grateful for all they have given to our team and the legacy they will leave. I will miss each of them greatly and I am excited to see what the next chapter holds as I know they will continue to do great things in life."

The Vikings were victorious in the 200 medley relay as the team of Hailey Glasnovich, Livy Sholl, Zoe Heiar, and Giselle Koonce won by just .49 seconds with a time of 1:53.26. Augustana also claimed the win in the 200 freestyle relay, with Glasnovich, Kendle Mihm, Caitlin Stoddard, and Mara Walker earning a mark of 1:42.17. The Vikings' third relay win came in the 400 free relay as Koonce, Mihm, Brooke Walker, and M. Walker finished in 3:44.48.

Augie took four of the top five spots in the 200-yard freestyle, led by M. Walker's first-place finish in 1:56.97. She was the only swimmer in the race with a sub two-minute tme. The top two spots in the 50 freestyle belonged to Augustana as Mihm came in first with a time of 24.83, followed by Stoddard in second at 25.73. Mihm also led a group of five Vikings in the top five in the 100-yard freestyle with a winning time of 54.87. Heiar added on to the Vikings' success with a win in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:01.52.

With the victory, Augie improves to 4-0 on the season. The win also hands the Pioneers their first loss in dual meet competition since the 2022-23 season.

Augustana will be back in action December 5 for the Wheaton Invite.
