ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's wrestling team collected a 40-10 victory over the Elmhurst Bluejays on Wednesday. Augie won nine of the 11 matchups with three resulting in pins and the other six by forfeits.
The Bluejays picked up the first two wins with a forfeit and a fall to make it a 10-0 score. Liz Ramirez put Augie on the board after receiving a forfeit in the 117 weight class to make the score 10-5. Sandie Pfeil pinned her opponent in the 124-weight division to even the score at 10-10 before Moni Griffin, Lanie Cecala, and Maryam Ndiaye collected forfeits in their respective weight classes to snatch the 25-10 advantage. In the 160 weight category, Aine Moffit pinned her opponent and Sawyer Graham secured a fall in the 180 division with three seconds remaining. Kayleigh Loo closed the night with a forfeit in the 207 weight class to secure Augie's first conference dual win.
With the win, Augie moves to 1-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, November 23 for the UWEC 8-Woman Battles in Eau Claire, Wis.
