ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team collected a 30-11 win over the Elmhurst Bluejays on Wednesday by a score of 30-11.
The Bluejays found victory in the 125 weight category, but Khadyn Jacobs evened the score at 5-5 after grabbing an 18-4 major decision in the 133 weight class. Will Taylor secured the five-point advantage after receiving a forfeit in the 141 weight division. In the 149 weight matchup, Mikey Rodriguez earned a 7-4 decision in overtime to move the gap to 13-5 in the Vikings' favor. Elmhurst snatched the 157 category before Jack Patting added three more points following a 7-1 decision in the 165 weight class. The Bluejays picked up a win in the 174 weight class to move closer, but Braiden Young followed with a 8-0 major decision. Jacob Badger pinned his foe in the 197-weight category and Clay DeBaillie closed out the event with a 15-7 major decision in the heavy-weight division to secure the 30-11 win.
With the win, Augie moves to 2-1 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, November 23 for the UWEC 8-Man Battles in Eau Claire, Wis.
