ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team opens the 2024-25 season with a conference dual against the MSOE Raiders on Saturday, November 2 in the Carver Center.
The men's team enters the season after achieving a 14-6 overall record and 6-3 conference record last season. The team finished fourth out of 11 teams at the 2023-24 CCIW Championships with Jacob Badger conquering the 197 weight division to be the first CCIW champion for Augie since 2019, while Badger and three others earned All-Conference honors. The Vikings have been projected to finish third in the CCIW this season and have five members regionally ranked in the NWCA. Josh Woodrey, Jacob Badger, Braiden Young, Michael Macias, and Jack Patting are regionally ranked in their respective weight division, while Woodrey is nationally ranked in the NWCA and The Open Mat.
The Raiders return to action after finishing the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 5-5 and 3-4 in CCIW action. MSOE finished fifth at the CCIW Championships last season with five wrestlers finishing in the top five. The team had a road record of 2-3 last year and open their season on Friday, November 1 at Millikin.
The Vikings won 30-18 over MSOE in last year's season opener, with six individuals conquering their respective weight classes. Augie has a 2-0 all-time series record over the Raiders with both matchups resulting in a 30-18 victory.
